Did you know that airlines are quietly modifying the allowed dimensions of carry-ons.

You come to the airport with the same carry-on you had for years just to find out it is no longer legal.  You are now stuck with additional checked-bag fees.  This is what the airlines are counting on.  They update their policies quietly and bury the new requirements deep inside their terms and conditions page.

To quickly check if your carry-on still passes the rules you can hunt for the information on the airline's website, or go to Will My Bag Fit.

How to Measure

  • Include handles, wheels, and external pockets
  • Measure at the widest points
  • Use a measuring tape for accuracy
  • It doesn't matter which dimension you call length, width, and depth, just as long as you get all three
